Media Advocacy Workshop on HIV/AIDS (24-25 October)

The workshop was a collaboration between BMF and Lhaksam and was supported by Regional Multi-Country South Asia Global Fund programme on HIV through UNDP, as a Principal Recipient. The programme aimed to create awareness about the underlying issues of men having sex with men (MSM) and Transgender (TG) associated with HIV risks and vulnerabilities, understanding media research, and seek media support for effective dissemination of information. The workshop was intended to help in bridging any communication and trust gap between journalists and HIV programme implementers and adequately sensitise and advocate media professionals on how HIV is associated with LGBT population and key issues and challenges faced by this minority group. A total of 42 participants (19 male and 23 female) attended the workshop and 18 journalist were among the PHIV, LGBT population and CSO representatives.
