National Dialogue on Media and Information Literacy
October 28th, 2026
The Bhutan Media Foundation (BMF) and YUMRA, in collaboration with the Department of Media, Creative Industry & Intellectual Property(DoMCIIP) and the Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority, organised a National Dialogue on ‘We All Play a Part – Media and Information Literacy for the People’ as part of the celebration of Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2026 on October 27, 2026 in Thimphu.
The dialogue brought together diverse stakeholders, including government representatives, media professionals, youth, and other relevant stakeholders, to discuss the importance of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) in today’s digital world. The discussions focused on addressing misinformation and disinformation, AI-generated content, cyberbullying, online safety, and promoting critical thinking and responsible digital engagement.
The dialogue reaffirmed that everyone has a role to play in building an informed, responsible, and digitally literate society. By strengthening collaboration among institutions, media, and young people, Bhutan can foster a safer and more informed digital environment for all.
