Building the Next Generation of Youth Researchers for a Safer Digital Bhutan

The Bhutan Media Foundation (BMF) has kickstarted a four-day Training for Enumerators from 29 June to 2 July 2026 in Thimphu, as part of the Child/Youth led National Assessment on Protecting Children and Youth from Cyberbullying and Technology Facilitated Violence and Abuse (TFVA) in Bhutan). This initiative is implemented by BMF through its youth wing YUMRA (Youth Upliftment through Media, Reflection and Advocacy) and commissioned by Save the Children Bhutan.
A total of eight enumerators are participating in this intensive programme, designed to equip them with the knowledge, practical skills, and ethical competencies required to conduct high quality data collection across the country.
Training modules include:
- Professional conduct & responsible research practices
- Survey questionnaires & FGD facilitation
- KoboToolbox for digital data collection
- Child safeguarding & ethical research practices
- Interviewing techniques & respondent engagement
- Data quality assurance & field protocols
Upon completion, the enumerators will support the nationwide assessment to generate evidence on childrenโs and young peopleโs online experiences, cyberbullying, and TFVA. The findings will contribute to strengthening policies, programmes, and support systems for a safer digital environment in Bhutan.
Through this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering young people as researchers and changemakers, while advancing evidence based advocacy for child online safety.
