Strengthening Social Media Literacy among Students in Phuentsholing

A school-based Social Media Literacy outreach programme was conducted on 10 September 2026 at Phuentsholing Rigsar Higher Secondary School, reaching 458 students from Classes IXโ€“XII, including 237 male and 221 female students.

The programme was coordinated by the Phuentsholing Youth Friendly Integrated Service Center, School Y-VIA Club, and the school administration, with sessions jointly facilitated by Y-VIA Club members, teachers, and Youth Center representatives who had participated in the Social Media Literacy Training organized by Bhutan Media Foundation (BMF), with funding support from Accountability Lab, DDI South Asia, and CIVICUS.

The session introduced students to practical skills for navigating todayโ€™s rapidly evolving digital environment, covering:

The programme aims to strengthen young peopleโ€™s capacity to navigate digital spaces responsibly, evaluate information critically, and make informed decisions online. By equipping students with practical media and digital literacy skills, the initiative seeks to contribute to a more informed, responsible, and resilient digital community.
