Call for Paper Presentations

The Bhutan Media Foundation, with support from the Department of Media, Creative Industry and Intellectual Property (DoMCIIP) under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE), will be initiating the Bhutan Media Forum. The Forum is envisioned as a national platform for dialogue, media excellence, innovation, and collaboration to strengthen a resilient and responsible media ecosystem that reflects Bhutan’s unique cultural values and development aspirations.
The inaugural Bhutan Media Forum 2026, themed “Media in the Age of AI and Digital Transformation”, will be held on March 30 and 31, 2026 in Thimphu, Bhutan. It will bring together over 100 participants, including journalists, policymakers, academics, civil society representatives, influencers, business leaders, and youth to examine the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies on journalism, audience engagement, governance, and the broader information environment. The programme will include keynote addresses, expert panels, research presentations, and hands-on workshops.
The Bhutan Media Foundation invites submissions from researchers, academics, and scholars who have published work in reputable journals, books, or edited volumes related to the following or related topics:
- Artificial Intelligence and Journalism
- Digital Transformation in Media
- Media and Information Literacy (MIL)
- Media Law, Policy, and Governance
- Ethics and Accountability in Media
- Media Innovation and Sustainability
- Media and Democracy
- New Media
Please note that this call is only for paper presentations based on research that has already been published. Selected authors will be invited to present their published research during the Bhutan Media Forum 2026 on March 30 and 31, 2026 in Thimphu and participate in networking sessions. An honorarium will be provided in recognition of their contributions.
Applicants must submit the following in a single PDF document:
- Full author information (name, position, institution/agency, phone number, and email address)
- A short biography (maximum 100 words)
- A brief explanation of how the research aligns with the themes outlined above
- Full citation of the published work (journal/book details)
- An abstract of the published paper (300 – 500 words)
