We successfully conducted the final Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for the Youth-Led National Assessment on Protecting Children and Youth from Cyberbullying and Technology-Facilitated Violence and Abuse (TFVA) in Bhutan on 27 August 2026 in Thimphu.

Officials from various government agencies participated in the FGD to help us better understand Bhutan’s current policy, legal, institutional, and governance landscape related to cyberbullying and TFVA. The discussion explored existing strengths, gaps, and challenges in prevention, reporting, enforcement, and victim support, while generating practical recommendations to strengthen Bhutan’s response to online risks affecting children and young people.

Since its commencement in April 2026, the Assessment has made significant progress, including the formation of a Technical Working Group, completion of desk research and physical surveys, and the online survey.

Commissioned by Save the Children Bhutan, the Assessment is being implemented by the Bhutan Media Foundation through its youth group YUMRA.

We sincerely appreciate the continued support and engagement of the government agencies and officials who contributed their valuable expertise and perspectives throughout the Assessment. Their participation has been instrumental in advancing this important work.

Protecting children and young people in the digital environment requires collective action. By bringing together young people, policymakers, institutions, and practitioners, we can strengthen systems for prevention, protection, reporting, and support.
