Honouring the Founding Members of YUMRA

The Bhutan Media Foundation (BMF) is proud to recognize and honour the nine founding members of YUMRA (Youth Upliftment through Media, Reflection and Advocacy) for their vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to establishing BMF’s youth wing.
As a token of our appreciation, each founding member was presented with a Certificate of Recognition in acknowledgment of their invaluable contributions to building a vibrant youth movement dedicated to media literacy, civic engagement, and positive social change. As many of them prepare to embark on a new chapter in their higher education journey, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for continued success.
Since its establishment in March 2026, YUMRA has grown into a dynamic youth network with more than 80 registered members from across Bhutan. In just a few months, the group has already made significant national contributions by leading and supporting major initiatives, including the Bhutan Media Forum 2026 (funded by Department of Media, Creative Industry & Intellectual Property)and the Child/Youth-led National Assessment on Cyberbullying and Technology-Facilitated Violence and Abuse (commissioned by Save the Children Bhutan).
Rooted in the values of Gross National Happiness (GNH), YUMRA empowers young people aged 13โ24 to become informed, reflective, and responsible digital citizens. Through Media and Information Literacy (MIL), leadership development, dialogue, research, advocacy, and volunteerism, YUMRA is nurturing a new generation of youth leaders who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to Bhutan’s democratic and digital future.
As YUMRA continues to expand its membership and establish networks across the country, we remain committed to creating opportunities for young people to lead, innovate, and inspire.
