Training for Enumerators Successfully Completed

The Bhutan Media Foundation (BMF), through its youth wing YUMRA (Youth Upliftment through Media, Reflection and Advocacy), successfully concluded a four-day Training for Enumerators from 29 June to 2 July 2026 at the BMF Office in Thimphu. The training was conducted under the project “Protecting Children and Youth from Cyberbullying and Technology-Facilitated Violence and Abuse (TFVA) in Bhutan,” commissioned by Save the Children Bhutan.
Eight young enumerators from YUMRA completed an intensive programme designed to prepare them for the upcoming nationwide assessment. The training equipped participants with the knowledge, practical skills, and ethical competencies required to conduct high-quality, child-sensitive, and evidence-based research.
Throughout the four days, participants received comprehensive training on:
– Survey questionnaires and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) facilitation
– Sampling methodologies and field planning
– Digital data collection using KoboToolbox
– Research ethics, informed consent, and interviewing techniques
– Psychological First Aid (PFA), distress recognition, and referral pathways
– Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy
– Practical field simulations and pilot testing of survey tools
– Roles, responsibilities, and field protocols for enumerators
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Save the Children Bhutan MEAL Team for facilitating the KoboToolbox training and sessions on research ethics, to Ms. Sonam Zangmo, Senior Counsellor at RENEW, for leading the sessions on Psychological First Aid and distress management, and to the Save the Children Child Safeguarding Focal Team for strengthening participants’ understanding of child safeguarding principles and referral procedures. We also thank our dedicated YUMRA Core Members for leading sessions on the survey instruments, focus group discussions, sampling, and field coordination.
With the successful completion of this training, the enumerators are now ready to begin field data collection for Bhutan’s Child/Youth-led National Assessment on Cyberbullying and Technology-Facilitated Violence and Abuse (TFVA). The assessment will generate critical evidence on children’s and young people’s online experiences to inform stronger national policies, programmes, and protection systems for digital safety.
