Day 3 and Day 4 Highlights – MIL Training of Trainers in Punakha

The third and fourth days of the Training of Trainers on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) for School Counsellors in Punakha focused on fake news, citizen journalism, news writing, and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). The sessions equipped participants with essential skills related to online safety, ethical media use, AI use, and active citizen participation in today’s media environment.
Prof. (Dr.) Anubhuti Yadav from Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, led in-depth sessions on GenAI, covering its fundamentals, applications in media and education, associated risks, and ethical considerations. Participants also explored applying MIL when using AI tools, with emphasis on critical thinking, verification, bias awareness, and responsible use of AI-generated content. Additional sessions addressed web credibility, cyberbullying, hate speech, net neutrality, copyright, censorship, privacy, and digital access.
Mr. Phub Dorji from Nyingnor Data conducted hands-on sessions on fact-checking and citizen journalism, introducing practical tools and techniques and highlighting the role of community-based reporting in promoting accountability and accurate information.
Mr. Needrup Zangpo facilitated an engaging session on “Understanding News”, focusing on news values, structure, and ethical journalism practices, followed by a practical news writing exercise with feedback.
