Strengthening Partnerships for Democratic Governance and Media Engagement

Mr. Dawa Tshering, Sr. Finance Officer of Bhutan Media Foundation recently participated in an international exchange programme held in Germany from 11–17 April 2026. This important initiative brought together Members of the Bhutanese Parliament, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and representatives from the German Parliamentary Committee to strengthen cooperation, exchange experiences, and deepen mutual understanding of governance and civil society engagement.
The programme was organized under two EU-funded “CSOs as Actors in Governance and Development” projects, implemented by Helvetas–BMF and Deutsche Welle–BCMD.
A key highlight of the exchange was engagement with the National Council of German Women’s Organizations, offering valuable insights into how coordinated advocacy by women’s groups contributes to policy development and gender equality.
The delegation also visited Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg to better understand the role of public media in fostering democratic dialogue, and how collaboration between media institutions and CSOs can connect stakeholders across sectors.
Overall, the programme provided a meaningful platform for learning, dialogue, and partnership-building, further strengthening Bhutan’s engagement with global partners in advancing democratic governance and media development.
